Piloto guisero, Jose Alberto Miniet, ha establecido nuevo record de distancia de vuelo libre en parapente en Cuba.

A menos de un año del anterior record cubano, el pasado día 13 de abril, el azar meteorológico  se interpuso favorablemente para ayudar al joven piloto guisero,  Jose Alberto Miniet, a realizar la singular proeza de sobrevolar 97km de la serranía del Sur del oriente cubano. El vuelo sucedió habiendo despegado en Corralillo, loma de modesta altura ubicada en Guisa, y el aterrizaje, casi tres horas más tarde, en las arenas de Pilón.

En informal entrevista el feliz piloto nos narra acerca de las condiciones climáticas del día de este suceso ” fue un día típico de primavera con techos sobre los 2000m, autopistas de nubes bien formadas y el viento del noreste fuerte, supongo que en algún momento soplara más de 40 km/h. Junto con Pupito,  sobre las once y media AM, reparamos la cuerda rota por la plegada de ayer esperando a que el viento cediera un poco y que la hora solar hiciera el milagro, pero demoró. Nos habíamos planificado despegar a  más tardar a la 1 PM, pero en este deporte se despega cuando las condiciones te lo permiten, no cuando uno lo planifica. Cerca de la una y veinte hice un intento  y terminé arrastrado a causa de una pequeña corbata (lio en un extremo).  Pupito aconsejó que esperáramos un poco más. Nuevo intento a las dos de la tarde, esta vez calculé mejor la racha suave e hice un buen despegue, raspé un poco la ladera durante cinco minutos hasta que explotó una buena ascendencia térmica a la derecha del despegue, fuerte y bien organizada, trepé  a 1600m de altura”

¿Esta primera ascendencia fue suficiente para volar la distancia finalmente alcanzada? ¿Cómo lograste el trayecto?

“Esta primera ascendencia es fundamental para avanzar  los primeros kilómetros es decir, a medida que ascendía volando en círculos,  la trayectoria se alarga en la misma dirección del viento, derivando, dejándome llevar. Sin embargo, las nubes aunque más altas eran más escasas que por la mañana. Vi una nube pequeña sobre San José  que me dio la impresión que se estaba disolviendo pero me arriesgué volando hacia ella ya con apenas 400m de altura. Atisbando descubrí un par de tiñosas que me marcaron la posición de una bestia papuja (ascendencia térmica muy fuerte) que me subió hasta 2200m de altura a una velocidad de a +5 m/s, hice el tramo hasta Buey Arriba  a una velocidad de 65 km/h con picos de 76 km/h, llegué allí casi a la misma altura del monte Olimpo, imponente montaña boyarribence, muy hermosa. Otra térmica, luego otra… Bonitos paisajes, quizás por lo novedoso, una calle de nubes casi perfecta”

¿Algún momento de tensiones o decisiones difíciles?

“ni las alturas ni las sacudidas en cada turbulencia, sino el momento de decidirme a volar los más de 30 km  de selva virgen despoblada casi por completo entre Bartolomé Masó y Pilón: si aterrizaba por ahí no salía en una semana si no me comían los jíbaros antes. Me decidí y felizmente resultó ser la parte más rápida y estable en cuanto altura de todo el vuelo por la confluencia del viento noreste meteorológico con la brisa sur que soplaba flojo. Llegué a Pilón con más de 1200m de altura. Volé unos 5 km más al Este y luego regrese y aterricé en el estadio municipal, con las piernas engarrotadas pero tremendamente alegre”

¿Por qué no hiciste  los 100 km?

“No me percaté que sólo me faltaban 3km para llegar a los míticos 100 porque tenía el teléfono en el bolsillo, nuestro principal instrumento de navegación. Y realmente porque estaba demasiado impresionado como para pensar en eso”.
